Meet the Maker: Nghi Ho

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I’m a successful self-taught macramé artist, content creator, Domestika teacher and published author. I’ve built a strong presence in the macramé community and use platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest to inspire others to explore the art of macramé.

What drew you to this particular craft or technique?

I followed my passion and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design. After graduating, I started working as a graphic designer, but eventually chose to become a freelancer to gain more artistic freedom and take on projects I truly cared about. Over time, I became interested in other areas of digital business and taught myself basic coding, content creation and editing, image composition, web development, and building a social media presence. Learning macramé didn’t come easily at first. I often felt frustrated with the resources available, which eventually motivated me to start creating my own content. That decision led me to build a presence in the online macramé community, using platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok to inspire others to try macramé for themselves. My tutorials are easy to follow and designed to spark creativity and artistic self-expression. In addition to content creation and managing my social media channels, I also founded my own macramé supply brand, Miss Knottie Macrame. Through my online store, people from all over the world can find everything they need to start tying knots.

What makes this kit special or unique?

This hand-crafted kit combines creativity, function, and relaxation—letting you weave a sturdy hanging basket with a lid using soft 5mm cotton cords. It’s beginner-friendly, includes a few essential tools, and is perfect for small-space storage or mindful gifting.

Do you have any tips or tricks for crafters using this kit?

Take your time and enjoy the process—this project is as much about relaxation as it is about crafting. Keep even tension on your cords for a neat finish, and don’t worry if it’s not perfect—it adds to the handmade charm. Use pins to hold the design in place as you go, and lay everything out before starting to stay organized. Most importantly, have fun and make it your own!

If you could be anywhere creating this kit, where would it be?

Somewhere peaceful and cozy—like a sunny corner by the window with a cup of tea, or outside in a quiet garden with birds chirping. It’s the kind of project that pairs perfectly with a calm, inspiring setting.
